As an avid crafter, I truly appreciate the work and efforts of Re:New Project in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.
Re:New exists to EQUIP refugee women by teaching them how to sew, EMPLOY refugee women offering flexible hours and a fair wage, and ENGAGE local women in a community of dignity, respect, and peace.
I would like to tell you about an open house event Re:New is hosting this weekend! On Saturday, November 10 from 10am until 3pm, come out to 250 Pennsylvania Avenue, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. If you aren’t in the area, stay tuned for their online grand opening on December 1st.
On their website, Re:New is going to be launching a bold new line of Messenger Bags! Sneak peek:
Each bag is one-of-a-kind and handmade by a refugee woman living in Dupage County. 136,000 refugees live in Illinois and 54,000 live in the suburbs. Re:New is standing alongside refugee women by providing economic opportunity and relational community. Join them! Shop your hearts out this Saturday 10-3, or any weekday M-F from 9-5.
It was the joy of my day to meet several of these hard working women. I perused the shop and was impressed at the quality and selection of the available items!
